Fronto King

If you know me, you know that I smoke Backwoods. People always ask me , “how did somebody from L.A. start smoking Backwoods?”.  The answer is pretty simple. I went to college in Atlanta,GA (Morris Brown) and was a vegetarian at the time.  There was a Jamaican restaurant near the AUC called Roaming Chef that I would eat Ital stew at almost everyday.  After a while I became cool with some of the Rasta brothers who frequented the spot and of course, would burn with them sometimes.  They would smoke out of all types of natural shit.. rice paper wraps, corn husks but most frequently they smoked this big ass leaf.  Fronto Leaf.  Apparently they preferred to smoke out of these rather than papers or corn husks but didn’t always have them.  When the brothers would run out of Fronto leaf, they would go buy Backwoods, which were the only cigars they said were similar to real Fronto.  So when I came home from College with nowhere to buy Fronto, I started smoking Backwoods.  Dutchmaster Corona Deluxe cigars had me going for about a year but eventually I surrendered all duties of the sweetleaf vice to the gentle-tasting Broadleaf..packaged in Ft. Lauderdale.

Since moving to Brooklyn, I have been reverting back to my old college ways, and burning the Fronto more.  I almost hit the floor one day when I walked into my local Bodega and saw a packaged Fronto leaf for sale.  If I can manage to get these things all the time, I may be laying the Sweet-Aromatic down a bit. Wow, they got me. I need to stop smoking (lights up another Fronto to review post…) one day.
